car cutting out

anyone got an answer to this one my car engine keeps cutting out whilst driving then it will restart once cooled for a bit
its a volkswagon golfs1391cc 1993 help

Possible obstruction in the fuel flow line, I once had this with a Beetle it turned out someone used a thick rubber Gasket on the fuel sender & a piece come away blocking the fuel line. Other than that Electric Problem, How old is your Golf?

could be a lot of things possibly an (IAC VALVE) idle air control valve,but this would only play up when engine is ticking over, if it's ok when cold itcould be a coolant temperature sensor if you have got a light coming on when it does this then it'l need plugging in to a diagnostic computer to give you some idea what is at fault.a mate of mine had a problem with his golf & it turned out to be a relay behind where the drivers right knee is.but it's a p-reg gti.
