Hi, well if its any help I have the Fabia and have test driven nearly all the Octavia ranges, They are in my opinion one of the best manafacturers on the market.
They are lovely ! Since they were taken over by VW they have produced beautiful, well engineered vehicles at great prices, winning loads of awards. Anyone who makes derogatory comments about Skoda these days has simply not kept up with the times.

I wanted a skoda fabia (for the size - I don't have a lot of spare room outside) 1.9 diesel but could I get a nearly new one ? Nah..... they were selling for similar prices to brand new ! I even looked at the vrs.... now that is a car to enjoy !

Why do you think you see so many taxi firms using skoda octavias ??? Cos they are great value for money, I guess.
If you don't mind being seen in a Skoda then go for it

I think they are basically a VW Passat.

This website may be useful for you to look at.
The reviews are from owners of the cars.

it more or less IS a passatt as they use the same chassis, engines and gearboxes, just as the fabia has the same chassis, engines and gearboxes as the polo range
I have an Octavia Elegance estate 2.0TDi.
It is oct 2005.
I haver to say it is a super vehicle. It is quiet and goes like stink! The fuel economy is brilliant always over 50mpg on a run and not far short around and about either.

The stereo is great and it is very comfortable and well equipped.

I have transported tables and chairs and washing machines for our kids with ease.

The Elegance has a false boot floor rhat is removable and has under storage out of sight. With out this as in the lower models there is a drop down to the floor. With the false floor you can just slide stuff in.
I forgot to add.
It is based on a lenghtened GOLF underpan not Passat but who cares, it is large and comfortable.

I am definately having the last larf especially when I read inane comments like those from that knob end Cheeky Chops.
the passat and the golf are based on the same platform as is with most vws and the audi a3 seats it uses vw parts very good car for a taxi driver
