my honda civic 1.5 has developed an annoying fault. when the engine is warm, and i turn off the engine for a short time, such as fuelling up, the car will not restart for 5 minutes or so. otherwise the engine runs fine, no misfires or stalls etc. any ideas ?

If the engine turns over and doesn't want to start then it's the same as my old Honda Prelude that did this occaisionally and it wasn't until long after I had sold the car that I found out that the fuel pump relays can be dodgy on some Hondas.
If the engine turns over Ok but does not start the engine clean the small tipo of /or renew the TDC sensor
