I travel 13 miles to work and back each day, (5 days) and it is costing a silly amount of petrol, i think i am only doing about 25 miles to the gallon, is this right?

I would have thought you would get another 10mpg at least! , make sure you keep it in drive, is the engine getting up to temperature? if it isnt then you may need a thermostat, this normally accounts for extra guzzling of petrol

I only ever use D, and it runs on the 90 thingy on the temp,
does the engine fan cut in when its stationary?

I dunno, I usually have Garth playing at about numkber 26 so probably woulkdn;t hear it
What sort of roads are you on?
Constant speed cruising on clear roads?
Stop/start in heavy traffic?

Try imagining there is an uncooked egg between your foot and the accelerator pedal.

it's all 30 MPH but i travel in from 8am and usually it takes me 45 mins to do the 13 miles cos of school traffic etc, at night it takes 30 minutes or less. no motorways and lots of trafic lights etc
stop/start traffic will kill your mpg, you need to learn some rat runs ! :D
Get a bike
Without taking risks, see if you can do the journey without touching the brakes much.

This will require looking further ahead to plan to roll up to red lights as they turn green, and easing off earlier than you normally do for obstructions. If you are normally hard on the acclerator and brakes it can make a significant difference.

I am quite a steady driover, i donlt race about and then have to slam on at red lights and i never go over the speed limit, what is the usual mpg for that model?
it,s most likely due to it being an automatic, they always use more fuel than a car with manuel transmision.
All my autos have been thirst around town about 25 mpg but on motorways have gone up to high thirtys so i think it is normal
get a mobility scooter lol they go fast you can even run people over on the pavement
