my partner has a 2005 megane and the window fell inside the door. Reno had the car straight away under warranty but was told the motor failed. When a motor fails should it stop the window going up/down or should the glass fall into the door. My question is has any1 else experienced this as i've researched it and its a common fault. If its so common shouldn't they re-call all the cars and fit a different window motor/runners setup to stop them fleecing you outta money for parts/labour when the warranty has ran out.

It's not a common fault, out of the 40 thousands Renault owners I know only about a dozen have had this fault out of all Renault models over 5 years.

i is a common problem as what car also advise buyers to watch out for it so i presume it is a common fault. Even the lady on the reception knew what the fault was so i presume it is quite common.
i would imagine that if the window has fallen inside the door then the problems lies with the regulator as opposed to the motor, the motor only moves the regulator whereas the regulator then moves the window so the fact that the window has become detatched would lead to the regulator in my experience anyway.
