MX5 and a set of skis.

Our niece is spending a few days with us in S.Wales and tomorrow is returning home to Cambridgeshire.
Come Saturday, she is off in her Mazda MX5 (folding hardtop) on a skiing holiday, but is doubtful that her skis will fit into the car with the roof closed.
In view of the bad weather which has been forecast, we would like to be in a position to say "We don't know the answer but we know a person who does".
We've never owned skis, or such a top-class car. Consequently, any advice is welcomed.
