What is the best way to paint aluminum?

Depends what the article/item is. Spraying usually gives the best results(no brush marks) but more detail might get you a better answer.

If you are talking of aluminium panels (like on a Land Rover) you will need to use an etching primer first. You can ask at a local Land Rover dealer for into.

Kev_UK is right - be careful when you use it though, wear a mask, its nasty stuff.
