44k miles. just bought this car and on the first drive of any distance ive noticed a noise that bothers me. at approx 50mph ish in 5th there is a rrrrrrr noise that i think is too noisy, and is in time with the engine revs. i would describe as souding like a cooling fan, but am not saying i think thats what it is. i cant see evidence of timing belt change. would this make this noise? or any other ideas please>?

Hi Mandi
IF your timing belt has been changed VERY recently the chances are that that it has been over tensioned which will give you that type of noise, BUT the noise will be there at the same r.p.m. in every gear or even in neutral at the same revs. Hope that helps. FT
