Does any sat nav when you ask for the shortest route give you just that? When I ask for the shortest it seems to head for the nearest main road first and is definately not the shortest.

Also how do you update the maps which I presume are on the SD card without paying a small fortune?

Hi, Pinky. What SatNav do you have ?

With TomTom it seems that you have to buy new maps/updates for a small fortune. PLEASE tell me I'm mistaken and how to go about updating mine.

Thanks.

Derek
I have tomtom navigator 5 and that does find the shortest route if you ask for it

Hi Derek

We have a Garmin with European maps on it. There are maps you can buy on the Garmin site but to update it does it free - well, I think it does! LOL I've never paid anyway

It's cheaper to buy preloaded SD cards
