Sat Nav Data, how old is it.

I have just purchased a new Sat Nav ( TomTom GO 520)
but i am very dissapointed that it cannot find a street in my area that is only built 2 years ago, so what i want know is how accurate is the data used in new systems? surely it should effficient enough to pick up a street less than 2 years old!!!!, any answers?

Tom Tom has a web site where drivers can send in updated info on a road. Maybe the one you have purchased has been sitting around for some time

As kwicky suggested it could be an old one, I've seen Garmin V8 mapped GPS's on sale recently which are over 2 years old, when I asked the shop assistant about it he told me wrongly, just go on the web and upgrade for free, its actually about �50
