running a deisel on old chip fat!!!

i know its been done before just wondering if any one can shed more light on it, any info or helpful websites would be appreciated. all i know is it can be done and some engines dont even need modifying, just filter the oil properly before putting it in!! any help appreciated, im fed up with the daft fuel prices and cant afford a lpg car

Depends on how old yr car is. If its newish it invalidates warranty and wont do it any good. If its over ten years old you'll probably be okay but will smell of chips.

As ZebUK mentions there is still duty to pay on it so it will be cheaper than the pump price but will still cost you money.

The advice is also to add a small bit of salt and vinger to help with the chip smell ;)

its a 1996 escort van so warrnty etc is not a prob, and if it did go wrong should be cheep enough to fix, and of course id pay all the necessary taxes
new rules mean no duty for limited mileage.I used veg oil on a car that was suited to it - and had problems

currently running 20liters of diesel to 6 of oil and its running great my friends trying it to in a diesel 52reg golf gti thats been chipped to 200bhp (hes stupider than me) hes not had a prob with half a tank of diesel and 4 liters of oil so now is added another4! ill say how he gets on when i find out
