Buying a punto

Im interested in buyin an R reg Punto for about �500, but the seller says its has an "intermittent acceleration problem" but its not the head gasket. Does anyone know what the problem might be and what exaclty does he mean by intermitting problem, does it simply mean that it doesnt go? Is there any chance that in a couple of months i will be spending another �500 getting it fixed? cheers in advance
