use a pair of pliers to tug at the cable. these cars have 2 bonet catches one at either end of the landing panel and sometimes seize up.
if the pliers don't work try one of the new fangled can -openers they're supposed to open anything

The bonnet has two catches one at either corner, using a long screwdriver or similar and a torch lie under the front, and looking up by the radiator, you can push both to release.
