I have received a 40 which goes up to 80 fine for failure to relicense my vehicle. My car was scrapped in May. I sent back the form to DVLA, also claimed back the road tax. They are saying that because i never received a letter to say they had received the information I am due to pay the fine to get my name of the register. Is this lega. Is there any way to get out of this ludicruous fine. I was not aware I should chase up a response from them. The man on the phone said that it has been all over the news and media. I said well I hadn't heard anything about it. Can I get out of paying this?????
