Car Stereo Problem

Having problems with the left door speaker.

For some reason the speaker will only start working if I turn the stereo up quite loud, then it will kick in. After that it works ok, sometimes breaks up a bit. I have tried to check the wiring for any loose connections but can't seem to find anything.

The stereo has also been replaced. I tested the speaker in another car and it did the same thing. But when I plugged it into the home amp it seemed ok.

Any ideas what else it might be or I can try. The car is a vauxhall corsa 1997.
