In the same way that they collect speeding fines, parking penalties and road tax.

In short, they won't.
They'ld damn well better, or it'll be poll tax riots part 2
How do you reckon they are going to do it, PB?

It's simply another aspect of this ridiulous, badly thought out idea that has not been addressed.

The Government's own estimates put the number of untaxed vehicles on the roads at about one in twenty - or more than one million. Many of these are unregistered.

Among these are cars belonging to British people, and the ever increasing number of cars owned by foreign nationals.

Owners, keepers and drivers of these vehicles have completely free rein to do whatever they wish. They are secure in the knowledge that, unless they are stopped (most unlikely) and rigorous enquiries made (even less likely), they can continue unfettered by the laws that most of us obey.

Road pricing will just be another burden on the law-abiding motorist which will be ignored by the freeloaders.
We'll have to become like the french, blockade everything if we are unhappy.

I'll block the M25. Any volunteers for the M1?
It's not easy to insure a foreign car in the UK! The insurance company want english plates to insure it, and the people who issue the number plates want insurance first... viscious circle, and if english isn't your first language, then no wonder people give up or don't bother!!

For someone who does a lot of motorway driving I have noticed a huge increase in foreign vehicles over the past few years. They also fill up with cheap fuel on the continent. I suspect many of our hauliers are spitting mad but unable to control it.
