cam belt on import

i just brought a japanese import from a dealer last week. it was working fine and i was falling in love with the car, then this morning i went to start it and there was nothing! it was working fine last night. i rang the rac and he seems to think its the cam belt, he checked the battery thats fine. the place i got it from has towed it away to have a look. i just want some good advice from anyone who knows about my problem. so that they cant rip me off or fob me off... i know they will be thinking woman doesnt know owt about cars and id like to go in thier educated so they think twice!

well,a cambelt can go at any time really,but it must be near the time for it to be changed,what car and what is the mileage,the cambelt will only go if you are using the car with the engine going,if you drove it to your house and parked up,then the next time you went to start the car and it wont start,i doubt its the cambelt.wait and see what they say,by the way if it is the belt,it could be a expensive job.

thanks: its a toyota estima n reg done 161942miles on clock at mo. bit confussed cuz the mot said 137327 when it was done in april??? its travelled a long way in 4months dont you think??
its most probably been used as a taxi or something like that.
