Help please! Have paid for family holiday to Orlando for September, I have 1 driving conviction from 2004, IN10 (driving without insurance, stupidly drove someone elses car for them) 6 penalty points and 200 fine. Did not attend court and was not 'read my rights'. Do I have to apply for Visa at Embassy (I don't have enough time!!) or will I be ok with Visa Waiver?

you will be ok to go without visa, just tick no and enjoy your holiday.
Ive been back from orlando 6 days now and i have drug convictions and i went on green vwp.
no probs, they cant check for motoring offences and they dont have access to our criminal records
They do get access to some countries' criminal and arrest records. I was arrested 15 years ago for shoplifting in Hamilton (New Zealand) in spite of my friend vouching that I had in fact paid for the goods, but I'd lost the docket.

When I went to court I was able to prove that I had in fact paid and my case was dismissed. Before I t took my family to Disneyland 20 months ago I'd been told I didn't need a visa if I had no convictions and it wasn't until I saw the wording of the form on the plane that I realised I might be in trouble, as I had been arrested but not convicted.

I answered No but on passing through immigration I was put in a room and quizzed about my background for four hours. They constantly asked me about that case, but nothing I told them seemed to make any difference. We were placed on a return plane to NZ, our holiday ruined.
Please totally ignore the last answer. (Editor: please delete it if possible)
callmesuzy - we want to know more. Why did you get questioned at all if you'd answered 'no' to all the questions on the form? What happened to you is extremely unusual. Were there other circumstances such as not having a hotel pre-booked or 'lack of home ties'. They're very strict in the USA and if they think there's any chance that you might want to stay longer than allowed - you don't get in - simple!
My answer was pure fiction. That's why I've asked the editor to remove it. There's no way for a contributor to edit or remove her own contribution. There should be! Jattie, you will have no problem - just answer No to the question on the form. It will be the truth and they won't know anything about your history anyway unless you tell them.
