can anyone tell me is it possible for someone to break into the boot of a car that is alarmed without the alarm going off and without causing any damage. my husbands tool were stolen from his 2006 passatt yesterday and there is no damage at all. the boot was locked because even if you forget to lock the car it locks itself anyway. this is a complete mystery to us as the previous evening his tools were there and in the morning they wern't.

thieves nowadays have so many ways of getting into cars and stealing them without the alarms going off,it must have been someone who knew your husbands tools were in his boot.
will only set off the alarm if it has a sensor in the boot area. it must be possible or you have a forgetfull husband that left his tools somewere else
There is a fault with the new model passat. where during the night the windows can come down and the boot lid opens, if it is a saloon anyway. It is due to an electrical fault or if he accidentally pressed the boot open button on the remote. My advice is taking it back to a dealer to be checked it is a known fault with volkswagen technical.

The only other possible answer is if it is a saloon, check the boot lid for damaged paint at the bottom of the rear screen in the middle where it joins the boot lid, as it is possible to stick a piece of wire under the boot seal and unhook the boot release handle on the top of the boot lid.
That will teach ya to leave tools in your car ovenight wont it
