DVLA,road tax due reg keeper deceased

My husband died July 06 Reg keeper of our car its taxed to end of may 07. I Insured car in my name from July 06 thought all ok taxed, insured and tested. am I now right in thinking I have a DVLA nightmare on my hands? on tax renewal me not reg keeper ! a problem,is my insurance invalid because of this as well? could it get worse, what do I do apart from shoot myself?
