The XSi is 2.0 8v and the 2.0 S16 is 16v.
The S16 was the quickest in the range until the GTI-6 came along in 1998.
I had a GTI and loved it, decent size car in terms of practicality and nice turn of speed.

Ryan,
Bit late I know, but I had a Diablo Red N plate XSi and loved it. Had it 18 months, spacious, handled better than most of my other cars, quick and got 39mpg on long runs. Think it was group 15 insurance so not too bad on that either.
