I have a low mileage Mazda 323f - lovely car which I put into dry storage two years ago to repair the drivers door electric window lifter.
I took so long to get round to the repair that, two years later when I started the car, the ABS light was on on the dash. So - no MOT!
To cut the story short I put the car intop a Mazda Main Dealer who told me the car needed an ABS central unit (?) which would cost me 1700.00 fitted (no I haven't misstyped it!)
This car is in great nick with 1800cc engine, electric tilt/slide roof, lovely Kingfisher blue paint and 67K from new, and I love it, want to drive again and hopefully sell it to a new proud owner.
I certainly dont want to throw it away!
Help please!!!

I am not familiar with Mazda, but the most likely cause is a stuck sensor at the wheel. This do stick and leaving it 2 years would not help.
try freeing these off and cleaning them.
If not an indepenat garage would be cheaper, and possibly more likely to fix things rather tahn throw away.
The central units are very robust, I have found- presume it did work before you stored it.
did the discs rust?, piston seize in the calipers?
wonder

Hi
Thanks for that.
The car drives beautifully and brakes work perfectly. Yes, everything was OK when the car was stored away.
The Main Dealer said that they had hooked the car to their tester and all the sensors appeared faulty so that was why they said the central unit needed replacing.
I agree about consulting an entheusiast repairer but I guess the car is only worth about 500 so it's hardly a proposition unless I can fix it myself.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
Regards
Brian
