Don't drive it whatever you do, my mate did this with his Jag and ended up having to replace part of his engine costing over 1k. He managed to drive it home which was a couple of miles but only because he had some diesel left in the tank and it's heavier than unleaded apparantly so not much of the unleaded ended up going to his engine. Still cost him a fair amount to get fixed though. I suggest you drain the tank and flush it out before filling it with diesel.
Not as serious as the other way round.

I did the same in my Pajero, how ever much petrol you put in put twice as much deisel on top of it its a big con them telling you you will damage your engine all it will do is give the engine a good clean. it may smoke for a couple of days.
when i called the AA this what they told me. i hope this puts your mind at rest.
regards
Kevin
it depends on how much you have put in,if its only a 10,then fill it up with diesel, then fill it up every day for a few days,if you filled up with petrol then syphon off as much as you can and fill up with diesel,it should be fine, but dont drive just on the petrol, that as the other answers say will cause problems
