Had to call breakdown 2 weeks ago as my Fiesta Ghia auto 1994 would not start. Was told the battery was flat so got a new one. But today it did exactly the same thing again. So again called breakdown out & luckily got the same man, he checked my brand new battery & informed me it was flat. He said either it could be the alternator, although my mechanic checked it when he put in the new battery, or something is draining the battery. But what could be draining it? Any ideas much appreciated.

I ad the same problem on a astra gte,it was a drainage problem,A friend tested it on a meter and i was losing volts,i then took it to an auto electrics who charged about 20 plus parts for a full test. They found a broken wire and as no parts were needed thats all it cost.As you can tell i am no mechanic, its just advice based on my experiance.hope this helps.By the way, that was a few years ago so the price will have gone up abit.also you might av an interior light stuck on, check the boot light, glove box(if you av one)
If the new battery provided a week or so of starting and then failed, your problem will most likely be one of non-charging, get your alternator checked again, the likelihood of the new battery being at fault is quite low.
