I have a Rover 216 automatic 1600cc every winter the car starts first time but when i have gone down to the first junction and stopped to look the car stalls, i then put it in P the car starts then i put it in D it stalls same again start in P go to D it stalls eventually trying to keep the revs up i manage to go, but sometimes it might stall again if i stop. It only ever does this the very first stop of the day all the rest of the day its fine, in the summer i have no problems at all, i have had the ECU updated, paid �300 but it is still the same HELP please anyone, it is a P reg.

Sounds like a fueling problem when the engine is cold - maybe a faulty sensor. Try allowing the car to heat up a bit before starting off in the morning - let it tick over for 10 mins and see if this cures the stalling. If it does then you need to look at the cold fueling sensor.
P.S . interesting model you have ( Stalin Rover ) is it Russian ?
Leave it the way it is, this was happening to my girlfriends fiesta last winter - she came out the house one day and found it abandoned at the end of our street - the thieves must have thought it was out of petrol !.

Yeh Homer... i cannot spell very good can i, it shud be stalling shouldn't it. oh well i try....
