Can't comment on the speed cam. issue, (not my thing), but I have been using a TOM TOM GO 300 for over a year, in UK and France, and I wouldn't be without it.
All satnav'e suffer from the same probs, though. When roads are modified or new-built it can take time before you can udate/upload new maps. Not their fault as they all get their map info from same source and are, therefore, dependent upon a third party supplier for the info.
Can thoroughly recommend TOM TOM.
