When I start my car from cold the engine doesn't want to tick over. I have to apply some gas to keep the engine going and until ithas warmed up it dies as soon as I take my foot off the gas.
It does however re-start first time, albiet with the little pressure applied to the gas pedal.

Sorry for being vague! It is a 1999 Citroen Xsara.
sounds very much like the automatic choke is not working you'll need to see a mechanic for that unless you know what you are doing
when was the last time the car was serviced as it may also be plugs or the points if there are any as a lot of newer models of cars are electronic ignition
either..
Engine coolent temp sensor or
