I had a massive oil leak today and the recovery guy told me I would need a new oil sump. Any idea what this is likely to cost me?

Could be a Mini with an Aston Martin engine ... perhaps not ;)

Sorry, it's a '97 Fiesta.
Ok lets get a few basics here your saintiness. Knackered oil sumps dont just happen. Did you hit something, like a big brick, kerb, passing log etc, or is it one of the seals that has gone? If the sump pan has developed a hole, I would work on about 15, but don't forget you will need new gasket.
If it's a seal that's gone, get a bottom end gasket set from a good motor factors, probably about 20-30.
Do not over tighten bolts that hold the sump on.
fiestas are prone to corroded sumps so its prob the case here, no more than 130 should see u ok
I think on my '99 Corsa it was around 80 fitted at a local garage (ie: not Vauxhall). Some seem to be very prone to rust although salty roads + wet weather won't help.

I hit a huge pothole in Oxfordshire yesterday, which I assume is the cause. Thanks very much for all your advice; I thought it would end up being about 200!
