Ive got a R reg Citroen Saxo 1.1i. When I get to second and third gear, the car lurches and occasionaly sounds like backfires. Ive been told that it may be the carburettor. Its done almost 90,000 miles. Any advice would be cool...

if the sound comes frome the exhaust the fuel is to ritch
if it comes frome the carb its to lean but other things like timing can afect it
if its a 1.1i you aint got a carb. a common fault on these is that they are french. no sorry i mean the single point injection unit .just take yours off and get a secondhand one for about 60 sovs. should cure it.
