I have a Kia and the black trims under the side windows have faded to a sort of grey instead of the black they were. It is more of a plastic, not rubber. Does anyone else have this problem and is there anything I can use to bring them back to black?

go to any car accessories shop and get some "back to black" (its actually for bumpers) it is a gel that you rub on leave for a bit and wipe of this is great and only takes about 2 minutes to do, you can use it on any part of the outside of the car which is black.
hope this helps
if that doesnt work you can try masking them up or taking them off give em a gentlr rub with very fine sand paper and spraying them with some aerosol black
Traditional black wax shoe polish in a tin is the easiest and cheapest remedy !

I tried the black shoe polish but it just wiped off. Perhaps it was the wrong sort.
Halfords do an aerosol can, I cannot remember what it is called, spray on and wipe over, brings all your black trimmings up a treat!
Sorry it didn't work Maggie - I used to use Cherry Blossom on on my old Seat's plastic bits and it brings our Clio's bumpers up a treat. I use it just like shoe polish - rub on with a cloth and buff with a soft brush when it has dried in. Far Eastern plastic must be different than European !!
Hope you get sorted !

I have used the black liquid stuff you use on bumpers and it has darkened it quite a bit. I think it may need a few layers, but it looks like it is going to work. Thank you for all your help.
