I have a faulty light on my dashboard and I need to remove the fuse so it goes off rather than stays on all the time - how do I know which fuse to remove? Is it a case of trial and error?

how do you know its a faulty light? perhaps it is telling you something??

what car is it and can you just replace the bulb??

Question Author

Because it's a common problem with Vauxhalls and is forever coming on and then going off again - trouble is I want to p/x my car tomorrow and it is on at the moment!! I have located the fuse but that also disables the rev counter and the handbrake light and turns on the battery light!

The car is a vauxhall corsa - how on earth do I get to the bulb?!

I would leave the car alone and go for the part exchange. Many garages dont worry about checking these things.
If you damage something else trying to remove the dash to get at the bulb, it could be expensive.
are you talking about the engine management light? if you are, there is something making it come on and off. the only way to stop it is to have it diagnosed and find out what is causing it, and replace the faulty part. they are, as you say, a common problem on gm cars. thats technology for ya.
