Have you paid the garage for the work? If not refuse to pay untill you get an explaination for whats happend to your car. Did you say anything before you took it away from the garage? Also get on the phone to the CAB and your local Trading Standards and see what they say. If they admit to causing any dammage (which they prob won't) don't have the work done there. Tell them you will have it done else where and get the other garage to send them the bill.
Oh and find your copy of the MOT failiure sheet that you would have gotten because it will list every thing thats wrong with the car. If there was a problem with the gear box it would have been made note of.

I suggest that you go back to the garage and tell them your concern and ask why this was not brought this too your attention when driving the car onto the bay off would have been in reverse but they would of had to park it. Dont have the car done at the place but take it to another garage not in the same area. The most they would have done was to drain part of the gearbox oil or adjusted the clutch. Ask to speak to the boss ask him that your passing the area ask them is there any bad garages to stay clear of.

I always take mine to a testing station that does only M.O.T ie Ministry of Transport or take to a well known testing station that has a viewing area and you can look at every move they make.

it sounds like your clutch is on its way out. as none of what you had done involves touching those components. it may be possible they messed with your clutch adjustment. but most of today's newer small car's have none adjustable clutches, they come in a kit clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. they can pack it in anywhere even at garages.you have been going there for seven years. if that's the kind of business their into i think they would have been gone a long time ago. but i would take it somewhere for a second opinion.
