Hi...you're not actually surposed to drive with your fog lights on unless there's low visability(the clues in there name) as they can dazzel drivers infront and behind you, like having your full beam on (but not as bright)
Good! read the highway code. The police where doing their job and you where in the wrong place wrong time. Dont slag the police off for doing their job, otherwise they might not do their job when you need them to and no doubt you would slag them off for that as well. Why did you have your fog lamps on anyway. Was it to make you look cool, is your eye sight bad. There is a clue in their name, and as for driving in the outside lane, Why? whats up with the correct lane. Please dont this personally but these are two of my pet hates! Learn from it.

You were stopped because you were breaking the law - on two counts by the sound of it.

I agree with the answer above - well done to the Police for doing their job.

maybe he had the fog lights on to make his car go faster or is he pig ignorant of the safety of other road users yes you were a problem/danger to other road users also being selfish for hogging the outside lane READ THE HIGWAY CODE before you slag the coppers off

and as for the cops well they were just doing their job which is what we pay them for

If you were driving with fog lights on and it wasn't foggy then you were causing a problem to other drivers - they dazzle!! Anyway if its not foggy why the hell do you need them on. They are FOG lights!!!!

BTW we drive on the left in this country not the right.

Now guys, correct me if I'm wrong but I reckon this guy is cranking us up! He's picked 2 pet hates and stood well back! Either that or he really is a plonker.

So which is it Dan?

I think your right Loosehead it's either a wind up or he's a plonker, we won't get an answer though if he's a plonker.

I'm happy to agree with everyone else here.

I'll point out, though, that having your fog lights on (when they're not required) not only dazzles other drivers but it also serves to obscure your brake lights. Someone following you would see bright red lights at the rear of your car. When you braked, your brake lights would be far less noticeable (because there would be little difference in the brightness of your rear lights) than if your fog lights were switched off. So, it's far more likely that you might get 30-odd tons of truck ploughing into the rear of your car.

People leaving fog lights on, when they're not required, is something which really annoys me. I used to have to drive, in the early hours of the morning, between Suffolk and the West Midlands. The A14 is notorious for patchy fog but I always tried to ensure that I only had my fog lights switched on when visibility was actually less than 100m. This meant that, during a journey of 130 miles, I would probably turn them on, and then off again, at least a dozen times.

Having written all that, everone makes the odd mistake. In over half a million miles of driving I've only ever been stopped by the police three times. Two of these were routine checks. The only time I've ever been stopped for a driving offence was - yes, you've guessed it! - for having my fog lights on! Well, nobody's perfect :-)

Chris

Good post Beunchico, honest, it does not matter how carefull you, or I, drive, mistakes are inevetable!

Foglights annoy me aswell, they are totaly redundant 99.9% of the time.

At least the car I have automatically turns all the fog lights off when I switch the ordinary lights off, people switch their foglights on when the first spot of rain hits the windscreen which means everytime they switch their lights on for the rest of the year the fog lights come on aswell!

hi, next time you are behind someone who has there fog lights on ,blink and hey presto it looks like the driver in front has their brakes on causing you to react and the car behind you and so on .crash damage or worse

regarding foglights blinding you when they are on thy also affect hgv/psv drivers as well but worse as reflect onto the tarmac and bounce up

I have a cure for it (yes I know it is illegal but it works) flash your full beam to attract their attention until they switch them off

and as for dan no 1 whether or not he is trying to wind us up or is he a plonker I would say yes to the latter

just met one this morning m60, 4 empty lanes he was in lane 3 with front fog lights on, also couple of months ago m61, 3 empty lanes he's in outside lane, unfortunately for him concrete block also in outside lane (ripped his sump off flames everywhere) if he had been in right lane would not have happened to him.
