I have set up my top box and followed the manuel and have tried recording from the top box channels and all i get when i have recorded on the tape is just sound and now picture, please some 1 tell me were i went wrong??????

You don't say if you can actually VIEW the programmes live. Assuming you can't, it's probably a very simple answer - just ensure the SCART plugs are fully home - the problem you describe can happen if they are not connected properly.

Is the manuel in Spanish? Maybe from Barcelona?

I agree with Postdog in that it is more than likely the SCART.

When I record from my freeview box I have to set the video to AV. Works perfect for me.

If it's got two scart sockets (most do) make sure the leads are in the right ones.
