Ford Focus coil light on dash flashes

intermittently it loses power, coil light on dash flashes until the ignition is turned off and on again it it is fine! A diagnostic test has shown nothing, one mechanic even suggested is was the CAT, which has been replaced to no avail! Help!

when you say coil light,do you mean the light for the glow plugs on a diesel? an orange light? if so its probably the accelerator potentiomometer.

Thanks for your reply bigdaddycain. yes, it's the light for the glow plug, comes on and flashes, but engine still runs, however when the accelerator is pressed nothing happens, once the ignition is turned off and turned on again it's fine (for a while).

So you think it sounds like the accelerator potentiometer, is this an expensive job?
