I am considering purchchasing the above but have been told that the lever that makes the suspension go up or down has frozen. I have also been told that this probably needs gas and could be expensive, is this true and if so at what cost to put this right. Thanks

A friend had a Citreon BX in which the lever was siezed and all that needed was the mechanism cleaning and lubricating. My daughters Xantia also has the same type of suspension and that is hydraulic not gas. The oil is not that expensive, but if any of the spheres are faulty, or the pump, then it could be a different matter.
I agree with DH, the height lever is never moved by most people with these cars and can get stuck in the normal position and can probably be left in the normal position for the life of the car without causing any problems, the main points for these cars are
Does the suspension lift up in a reasonable time after starting the engine and not sink down after the engine is stopped for some time, and also with the engine idling the pump should not be cutting in and out very often.
steer clear of it - repairs on suspension of these cars can be a nightmare
