Do they know you need the MOT for warranty?
Go somewhere else that can do it sooner? I thought you said it was due October ???
Question Author
Cal - maybe I am working this out wrongly. I am thinking since I have difficulty in getting the warranty which is 6 months - that perhaps if MOT was covered by the warranty - it would be up to the seller to fix whatever it needs.
Question Author
yes October 2023 =- the new mot are january 2024
Personally, I don't think a warranty would cover a bill for the next MOT (if a failure).
Question Author
i know nothing about that them - but did think a warranty cover should be respectfully fix them like I am looking that a warranty is another name for guarantee

a lad down the street bought his daughter a car - he said the seller sold it "sold as seen). So is that the way my car is sold even with the warranty.
To prevent contributors here from posting replies which won't apply to Jennyjoan, I'll remind everyone that she's in Northern Ireland.

Unlike in the rest of the UK (where, if one MOT test centre is booked up, one can simply go elsewhere), people in NI can only go to government-run testing centres. (So Jennyjoan can't go anywhere else).

Here's the official position on the backlog in NI:
“The DVA’s advice to vehicle owners who require an MOT to tax their vehicle and cannot secure a date before their MOT expires is to book the earliest available appointment and keep checking the booking system for an earlier appointment.

“If they get to within five days of the expiry date of their vehicle tax and they have been unable to secure an appointment or their vehicle tax has expired, they should contact the DVA Customer Services team at [email protected] and they will do their best to get an urgent appointment for the vehicle.

“To date, all customers who have contacted the DVA in these circumstances have been offered an earlier appointment.”

Did you buy it privately or from a business?
When does the MOT expire?
Can you post a link to the advert?

thanks Chris for that - Barry - supposed to be a business - think he runs 2-5 cars (genuinely don't know). has lost his partner 3 months and has plunged into drink.

I am promised
warranty]
new keys which I would like to get - blinking keys
and he also promised to do the MOT date

and whilst he is like the above I won't depend on too much

Wow, seems to me NI needs to sort it's system out. :-O
