Can anyone give me a good, but simple definition of anaerobic threshold? And perhaps what goes on in your body that causes you to reach your anaerobic threshold?

anaerobic threshold is another name for lactate threshold, it is when the removal of lactate in the blood stream cannot compete with the production of it and so lactate begins to build up.

The anaerobic threshold is the maximum power level sustainable where oxygen is the only way carbs and fats get metabolised.

If you exceed this exercise level a different chemistry burns your food which causes a build up of lactic acid. A spell of rest and heavy breathing is needed to recover.
