If your Mk5 is the 1990 to 1993 model and your Mk6 is the 1993+ model (with the first style of oval grill) then yes the headlights are the same. The two cars are almost entirely interchangeable. The only real styling differences being the bonnet and the hatchback boot lid. There are differences in the suspension and brakes I think.

With the healights be aware that there are two types of headlights that were fitted to the Mk5 and Mk6, low series and high series. The low series headlight are fitted with the indicator next to it. The high series are wider and are fitted with a sidelight next to it, the indicator being in the bumper next to the fog light. The low series uses only one headlight bulb for dipped and main beam, while the high series has a seperate main beam bulb.
