My Mk IV TDi starts fine from cold and runs ok. When trying to start from hot however it will only start if put the accelerator to the floor and turn engine over for much longer than would be necessary when cold.... Any Ideas?

Cheers

Hi Geoff, I'm currently having the same problem as you've had on my Mk4 tdi. Did you have any luck with fixing this problem. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi

Eventually my mech friend blew back through the fuel return pipe (with an airline) this seemed to cure the problem. 60 worth of VW diagnostics failed to find anything.

I am not sure if he disconnected the far end or what exactly he did.

There was no problem with the head gasket - as suggested by the poster above.

Hope this helps
