My VW Golf seems to be spitting out coolant, especially exactly when you turn the engine off, as it rises out of the overflow.  Could this be a faulty water pump, blocked radiator, as the coolant seems to boil up in the tubes. The pump is the only about year and half old. No sign of head gasket going though!!  Anyone shed some light on this as need to fix to flog it off.  Car engine heating up a bit but not to fatal proportions.

I was going to say water pump until I read that it was just 18 months old - could have failed eary though.

Personally I'd check the cheap things first - the thermostat and drain and flush the system with a garden hose. If the radiator's blocked you should have bits of it that feel cold to the touch whist other bits are hot.

The water pump has gone a bit chalky, where before it looked immaculate.  I did flush the radiator but will check for hot and cold bits....ta.
