Renault Scenic Megane Y Reg - Rear Windscreen

Hi the rubber seal on my Y Reg Renault's rear windscreen has come loose. When i feed it back into the a gap, there's about and inch gap between the two ends. Should there be a joining clip between them? Thanks

I think not, are the ends a clean cut? if not, it seems there is a Piece missing, fill the gap with silicon sealant, or replace from a car Windscreen Fitting service.
