Ford Fiesta 1998 Oil Cap

This seems ridiculous but I can't get the oil cap off my 1998 Ford Fiesta to top it up. It doesn't unscrew or pivot off, but has a very thin part line at the top about 7mm from the top which looks like you should be able to get a screwdriver into to pop it off. No success tho'. Any ideas or do I need to swallow my pride and go to a mechanic?

Have you tried pushing it down then twisting it off?

Have you got any fuel in the tank? Having no fuel creates a suction effect that holds the cap on even more firmly. You should be able to remove it with a bit of strength

i have the same problem as you with the fuel cap being stuck on my 97 fiesta
