Burn it and buy something that's at least half decent.
Ooooh that's a mean answer, Skids. Whatever you do, Grizza, (and I'm sure there are lots of things you can do), bear in mind that you'll need to declare it to your insurance company or risk having no cover just when you need it. It's gonna cost you in three ways, mods, fuel economy and insurance. Is it worth it ?

You can have the engine chipped. A 1.8 Astra can be improved by 8 BHP at a cost of 225. See here for further information.

That's incorrect Skids. If the car is burned, it will affect the rest of our insurances. I would respectfully suggest that the car is sold to one of our younger generation motorists, throw in a backwards baseball cap to clinch the deal, and let them drive round and round in it, listening to boom chick a boom rubbish on the radio set, whilst annoyingg all other law abiding persons.

Or, whip the head off, do a little porting and polishing to encourage gas flow throgh the head, get the timing set up properly, get the correct plugs etc, and ensure that everything is optimized.

The question is why would you want to improve bhp?
