I had this problem over many years on lots of cars .It really is nothing to do with coking up etc. Its due to the crap product lots of firms use. They are so thin hence tinny sound. They dont last long anyway. To solve the problem fit a genuine one or a reckonized official copy such as Walker but they are a little dearer. But the problem is finding somewhere who will order and fit one.
