Probably in the region of three times what the car is worth - £6-700 at a guess.

depending on the car and cc it could be anywhere between £200-£800

Had the head gasket done on my Skoda diesel last year. To do it right the head needs to be skimmed and you may as well get the valves reground as well.
Mine cost £800 plus the VAT ;-((

If you can take the Head off & replace about £150,the labour charges are the killer, to get the head Skimmed is not that dear.
