My OH might have to make an urgent visit to Ireland in the next few days but the only vehicle that he can take will be his Astra van, do you think they'll charge commercial rates on it? the website is not clear (Stena) it just says vans of transit size. I have emailed them for an answer but just wondered if anyone on here knows.

Have you contacted Stena Line and Irish Ferries as they both sail out of Holyhead

Only Stena as he'll be going into Dun Loaghaire, Irish Ferries don't go there unfortunately.

Transit sized means the size of a Ford Transit - a 1 tonne capacity van. An Astra is what will be called a car-derived van and should go as a car.

Under 6m long and 2.6 m high counts as a car, UNLESS it's carrying commercial goods, in which case it's charged at the commercial rate.

Thanks all, there will be no tools or work equipment on board at all, he'd rather take the car but I need it. Hopefully he won't need to go.
