Yamaha Virago

Does anyone know the fuel capacity of the petrol tank on a Virago 535? My understanding is that the 'fuel tank' on top is more for show, and the actual tank is below and behind the engine block, but I have no idea how much petrol it holds when full. Please help me !

I have a 1983 japanese import Yamaha virago XV400 Special.
