I have had my silver rover 420 sitting on my drive for months while I figured out what to do to get it working. I have the keys, but no immodbiliser key fob, the lucas remote key for 5XAS ecu. Now I know I can buy a new fob on ebay for about 15 which, I can also send off the ECU and get a new key fob for 57.

but the ECU unit itself its a knightmare to remove its stuck behind the radio and the console :( My question is, does anyone know how to remove the factory fitted radio, I simply cannot get it out) i'm sure on a 1997 its just clipped in place, not screwed in.

also if anyone knows of a better solution than sending my ECU please let me know. Eg. a local locksmith who could bypass the system. (ps I have the EKA code but its does not work - unrealiable rover writing it on my security card incorrectly, apparently this is common)

On a Rover radio pins will usually just pull a radio out.
