I've just had a new back box put on my car but it was leaking,the mechanic said that is normal and it would expand and seal after a hundred miles.Is this true

depends on the severity of the leak. it should seal itself it's true. wait a day or two andgo back and have the fitter check it. you win either way, peace of mind or get the job done to your satisfaction.
